More information about Dashiell can be found at .Job Title: Field Service TechnicianJob Location: 4412 Maplewood Dr, Sulphur, LA 70663Primary Function:The Technician I will perform electrical testing, maintenance, and start-ups of high voltage substations. Assignments are closely supervised and designed to further develop employee job knowledge and abilities.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEmployee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear included (but not limited to) the following:Protective relays and relaying systemsCircuit breakersPower transformersCurrent and potential transformersMeters, transducers, and power system meteringPower CablesGrounding SystemsMotors and Motor StarterStation Batteries and ChargersAlarm Systems and AnnunciatorPerform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairsGenerate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommendedRepresent the company in a professional manner with regard to communicating and interfacing with clients Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment Make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has Zero Tolerance for those who do otherwiseOther duties as required Minimum Qualifications / ExperienceAssociates or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent is required. Technician experience in the high voltage industry will be accepted in lieu of degree. Minimum 2 plus years of experience in the high voltage industry is preferred.Possess skills in the following areas:Demonstrated knowledge of The Power TriangleAbility to understand the basics of one-line, three-line, AC/DC schemes, and connection diagramsDemonstrate a solid understanding of the purpose of a current transformer and a potential transformerAbility to perform basic current transformer testsAbility to define typical AC & DC fundamentalsWorking knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, ICEA, and NETA standardsBasic knowledge of various metering configurations and connectionsProven knowledge of Vacuum versus Air Circuit BreakersAbility to understand the basic function and operation of an oil circuit breaker and a Gas Circuit BreakerAbility to understand the basics of a Potential Transformer (PT), Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformer (CCVT), and a Current Transformer (CT)Understand the major components of a power transformerBasic knowledge of motor ratings and motor testing as applied to rotating machineryProven knowledge of a capacitor bank and the different capacitor typesBasic knowledge of electrical components, devices, and symbolsProven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, and facts to a diverse group of individuals including administrators, engineers, and senior managementDemonstrated knowledge of the various functions and difference between protective relay typesUnderstand the purpose of primary and secondary phasingAbility to work effectively in a team based environmentDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)Ability to work safely in hazardous situations within high voltage substations, petrochemical plants, refineries, and other safety critical locationsMust have a valid driver's license with clean driving recordMust have, or be able to obtain, a TWIC cardMust pass pre-employment Drug, Alcohol and Background Checks; must continue to pass all random and client required Drug, Alcohol and Background ChecksAbility to travel up to 25% with flexibility for frequent overtime requiredOther Information:Work situations will require an adjusted work schedule, possibly long days, evening/weekend hours in order to meet customer requirementsMust be able to work on feet throughout the work shiftAt times will be required to work in austere working conditionsBe able to properly lift up to 50 lbs.Travel to job sites is required.Equal Employment OpportunityDashiell is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
