Production Supervisor - 2nd ShiftThis position will flex between second shift and third shift as necessary to cover any vacations or presence needs on opposit shifts. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining workflow and ensuring that safety, quality, delivery and production meet the standards and expectations and running efficiently and profitably. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the team member handbook, safety guidelines, all policies, programs and procedures that pertain to production team membersResponsible for on the job training of team members in the safe, efficient operation of equipment. Instill good housekeeping of their immediate work area in all employees so that the plant is ready for visitors at any timeResponsible for promoting a safe work environment and preventing injuries using 5S, job rotation, and ergonomic work practicesEvaluate team members based on attendance, performance, attitude, job knowledge, quality of work, etc. Recommend candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer or releaseResponsible for maintaining staffing within the assigned department at authorized levels. Re-assigns team members to eliminate unfavorable labor variancesUnderstand and positively impact key measures. Balance quality, productivity, safety, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areasContinuously analyze the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, tool design, communication, reporting, and cost controls; make recommendations to the manager for improvementsObserve production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment. Take corrective action to eliminate any deviationConsults with team members regarding on the job problems to include low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness, etc. Documents all problems and provides action plans to manager. Take corrective action to assure problems are resolvedWith the Plant Manager and Operations Manager, study operation where cost standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective actionMaintain team member timesheets and all required forms for payroll in a timely manner.Develop among the production team members a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain departmental and plant objectivesUnderstand and promote MBS Lean philosophy and methodsREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, operations, business management or related; preferred3+ years' experience in a supervisory capacity5+ years in production manufacturingSix Sigma Certification, either Green or Black BeltKEY COMPETENCIESManagement Competencies:Goal Setting - Sets fair stretch goals for self & others.
