JOB PURPOSE: The Commercial Building Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of building systems in a commercial facility, ensuring the environment is safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient for tenants and employees. This role includes managing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems while conducting preventive maintenance and responding to emergencies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversee and perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. 2. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for key systems to prevent failures and ensure optimal performance. 3. Monitor energy usage and recommend improvements to reduce consumption and increase efficiency. 4. Ensure the building meets all safety regulations, including fire safety systems, elevators, and emergency backup systems. 5. Respond promptly to tenant complaints and service requests, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. 6. Be on-call to respond to emergencies like power outages, equipment failures, or weather-related incidents that affect the building. 7. Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance that falls outside the scope of internal capabilities. 8. Conduct regular building inspections to ensure systems are functioning properly and compliance with local building codes is maintained. 9. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, system operations, and repairs performed. Provide regular updates to the Facilities or Property Manager. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in high-pressure situations. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with tenants, vendors, and team members effectively. * Exhibit excellent customer-services orientation in responding to tenant requests. * Display follow-through in carrying out directions from management. * Demonstrate teamwork skills in relations with co-workers. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent. associate's degree in a related field is a plus. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5-7 years of experience as a building engineer or in a similar role within commercial or industrial facilities ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications) Certification in building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) Universal EPA certification, or other related certifications preferred.
