Glen Ellyn Public Library provides an open, vibrant center that builds community where people can connect, explore new trends, and find trustworthy, reliable information to feed their curiosity.We are looking for a dedicated and member-focused Library Services Clerk to join our team who will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our library and provide excellent service to our members.We Are Looking for Candidates with:High school diploma or equivalentAt least one year's experience working with public Commitment to public serviceConfidence using the Microsoft 365 applications and ability to learn the Core Technology CompetenciesAbility to learn the library's management system and the arrangement of material in a libraryAbility to bend, carry up to twenty pounds, move loaded wheeled carts weighing up to 300 pounds, and stand for four-hour shiftsExcellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communicationAttention to detail, ability to multitask, and ability to prioritize and organize workAbility to work independently and as a part of a productive teamPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:Charging and discharging materials Issuing and renewing library cardsAssisting the public and answering and redirecting inquiries in person, over the telephone, and via email or chatReceiving and recording feesUpdating caardholder accounts Retrieving and processing requested materialsRunning reports and verifying item status or collecting materials associated with those reportsRemoving items from the reserve shelf that have not been retrieved and changing the status in the library's management systemProcessing and preparing holds for cardholders to pick upProcessing and transiting material for holds to other libraries Organizing items and carts for discharge and shelvingRetrieving and discharging materials from book drops, checking items for damageOrganizing returned materials for shelvingReturning borrowed materials to the owning librariesCarrying out other duties in support of the department and the libraryHourly Rate, Schedule$14.06-$21.08, $17.57 is the midpoint for this position. Offers are made within this range based on competencies, experience, and internal equity.Total Bi-Weekly Hours: 50.5ScheduleEvery other Sunday, 1-5 pmEvery other Saturday, 9 am - 5 pmMonday 9 am - 1 pmWednesday 9 am - 1 pmThursday 1-5 pmFriday 10 am - 6 pmBenefits: Eligible for paid time off and holiday pay, continuing education, and employee assistance program.
