For more information, visit our website at Summary: MIM seeks an energetic and experienced sales professional to proactively solicit, sell, and secure group tour business and lead the overall administration of adult group tour programs to help meet annual museum attendance goals. Current adult programs include memory care and music sessions, corporate team building activities, college student and alumni visits, special lectures/presentations, and much more. In addition, this position will identify and implement strategies and timelines for reaching appropriate audiences in local, regional, national, and international travel/tourism/hospitality industries. The specialist will be responsible for monitoring and responding to industry trends and market needs, while also evaluating the effectiveness of sales strategies and the types of tours offered. This highly collaborative position reports to MIM's chief engagement officer.  Primary Responsibilities: ·        Management of adult group tour programs:o  Oversee all aspects of existing adult group tour programs including the Memory Care and Music series, VIP back-of-house tours, lifelong learning sessions, corporate team building workshops, and more. Oversight includes fielding inquiries; inputting reservations into MIM's CRM / event management system (Salesforce/PatronManager); securing rooms and resources; managing contract facilitators; taking payments; ensuring an appropriate and on-brand welcome process; and conducting suitable follow up and evaluation.o  Identify opportunities for enhanced adult programming that aligns with MIM's brand and mission. Collaborate with other team members (education, creative and marketing, etc.) to design new and/or enhanced experiences that further institutional goals and priorities. o  Support volunteer museum guide training and continuing education specific to adult tour offerings.o  Steward relationships with groups that have previously toured the museum, reviewing and recording information in Salesforce/PatronManager and maintaining a regular cycle of communication and invitation for further engagement. o  Work with the creative and marketing team to update and maintain collateral and web pages needed to share tour and booking options. o  Work with GSI (on-site food, beverage, and events partner) to arrange food and beverage needs, upsell lunches, etc., for adult tour programs; conversely provide daytime group tour experiences, as requested, for private-use rental clients. o  Arrange group tour experiences, including VIP back-of-house tours, for donors, board members, etc., as needed.o  Contract and manage 3rd-party bookings including monitoring daily sales and validating monthly payments. ·        Outreach and business development:o  Develop and execute a plan to generate new group tour accounts by researching contacts and promoting adult group tour options to varied audiences including colleges and alumni organizations, convention groups, activity clubs, senior communities, church activity groups, adult service organizations, medical communities, and more. o  Review and evaluate requests for off-site presentations to generate future tours.·        Tourism/hospitality visibility and awareness:o  Maintain and build new local hospitality industry relationships. Develop, sell, and oversee a ticketing program for resorts/hotels/timeshares to incentivize pre-paid admission purchases and increase hotel guest visitation to the museum. o  Promote awareness of the museum and tour options through familiarization (FAM) tours, phone calls, one-on-one sales calls, and participation in networking events, tour operator and travel agent sales events/industry trade shows, and CVB-led or AOT-led sales missions. o  Work with local CVBs and state tourism office to leverage various efforts and campaigns to increase the number of out-of-town guests who visit MIM.o  Prepare and deploy e-mail campaigns to tourism contacts and local hospitality contacts regarding museum and concert news, new tour information, exhibitions, and events on regular basis, in collaboration with MIM's creative and marketing team.o  Share industry insights, findings, and updates with appropriate team members to help inform overall marketing strategies and priorities.·        Administrative:o  Report on various activities and programs monthly.o  Attend various cross departmental meetings to stay informed of MIM events and programs.o  Provide support for large departmental and institution-wide projects and priorities, as needed.   Desired Qualifications:·        Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or communications is preferred.·        Two or more years of successful sales experience in a museum, attraction, or event venue setting with a history of growth in program revenue and attendance.·        High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite on a PC platform. ·        Experience with Salesforce/PatronManager a plus.·        Ability to handle financial transactions and client details in a secure and professional manner. ·        Ability to welcome groups, meet prospects, make presentations, and conduct site tours at various times including weekends and evenings.·        Excellent proposal writing, presentation, and reporting skills with strong communication abilities to guests, clients, and team members at all levels.·        Strong creative, strategic thinking, organization, and analytical skills required.·        Ability to follow strategic direction, maintain brand standards, and work collaboratively.·        Strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively with a positive attitude, handle unexpected challenges in a calm and professional manner, and prioritize work based on short and long-term needs.·        Must be a self-starter and able to use time efficiently in a high-production, deadline-driven environment.·        Must be comfortable making cold calls and consistently follow up with leads and current clients.·        Knowledge and contacts within the greater Phoenix market (CVB's, AOT, destination management companies, etc.) strongly preferred.·        Highly detail-oriented with strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Other:•       This is a full-time, salaried position working on-site at MIM.•       Position requires extended periods of standing and walking, and may require moving carts, chairs, etc. to facilitate group activities.•       Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
