Job Description

The Forester is responsible for supervising all aspects of forest silviculture to support the tree farm operations. Working under general supervision, this role ensures client goals and objectives are met with regard to financial goals, capital preservation, compliance, and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities and Duties Reforestation (planning & nurseries), density management, weed and damage control and forest health. Participate in the process for contracting with third-parties to perform forestry and engineering related services (prospectus preparation, identification of qualified/licensed contractors or consultants, bid analysis, negotiations, contract execution and compliance monitoring). Actively participate in the implementation and utilization of GIS. Provide information to GIS Forester as needed to update maps with regard to new road construction and/or road class changes, road features, stand boundaries, inventory depletions, stream locations and stream classification. Aid Area Forester in monitoring expenditures and production levels closely in order to comply with budget/forecast targets. Participate in the annual budgeting and monthly "Forward Look" processes, as needed. Ensure appropriate notifications, permits and easements have been obtained before field work begins. Maintain full and appropriate compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations, Licensing Standards, Forest Practice laws, SFI Standards and Best Management Practices. Maintain good communication and excellent working relationships with outside agencies and companies (Department of Forestry, Department of Fisheries & Wildlife, Counties, etc.). Stay abreast of industry technology, trends, new regulations and laws; attend meetings, as necessary. Support and participate fully in local SFI program. Ensure that environmental or financial risk management reporting is conducted in a timely and professional manner to your Area Manager and, if appropriate, local Safety Coordinator. Respond to internal and external information requests in conjunction with management and team members. Actively participate within the organization to ensure all timberland management investment services meet or exceed client commitments. Represent the company at all levels, maintaining positive public relations. Requires licensing when performing certain tasks or handling chemicals (pesticides/fungicides/fertilizers, etc). Educational Requirements University (Degree) Preferred Work Experience 2+ Years Required; 3+ Years Preferred Physical Requirements Physical Requirements: Medium Work Career Level 6IC Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2+ years of Forest Management, Timberland Management, Forest Engineering or Forest Operations Management experience in a work, academic and/or internship setting Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of Forest Management, Forest Engineering or Forest Operations Management experience Bachelor's Degree in Forest Management, Forest Engineering or Forest Operations Management Working knowledge of forestry operations and previous experience working with silviculture project implementation Experience planning, budgeting and forecasting Knowledge and understanding of State, Federal, and Local regulations, especially the Oregon Forest Practices Act. Ability to prepare bid prospectus, and negotiate and revise current contracts Strong written and oral communication skills Computer and software application skills, especially MS Outlook, Excel and Word Oregon Chemical Applicator's License Valid Driver's License and good driving record Ability to work in the outdoors over extremely rough, uneven terrain in all weather conditions Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Related Skills Business Development, Client Service, Communication, Data Analysis, Financial Modeling, Investment Reporting Oversight, Investments, Market/Industry Dynamics, Natural Capital Investments, Nuveen Products/Services Acumen, Relationship Management, Story Telling Anticipated Posting End Date: 2024-10-07 Base Pay Range: $58,100/yr. - $95,000/yr. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
