NOTICE OF VACANCY Integration Assistant WALES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 2024-2025 School Year Anticipated Start Date: Immediate Reports to: Special Education Teacher and General Educators for consultation with whom he or she works for daily supervision and the building principal or their designee, for assignments and evaluations Responsibilities: Provides assistance to assigned students while working in and out of a variety of classrooms Essential Functions: * Works primarily with students with IEPs * Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and their records * Implements teacher/specialist developed lessons without direct supervision * Provides intervention and support for students in small and large groups, and in inclusion settings * Administers tests or assessments to individuals or small groups, as needed * Meets with teachers/specialists for curriculum discussions as requested * Meets with teachers and other specialists to discuss intervention strategies and student growth * Collects data to monitor progress on individual students * Works with children with a variety of disabilities * Carries out health and safety protocols * Ability to work with students who need academic and behavioral support * Ability to work with teachers in the collection of data * Implements teacher developed lessons without direct supervision * Performs other duties as assigned Ability to: * Work with children of varying abilities, including children with substantial disabilities * Communicates effectively with students, teachers, and administration * Modify student work to match students' level of understanding and development * Maintain cooperative and productive working relationship when dealing with students and staff * Solve practical problems with students and staff * Understand and carry out oral and written directions * Plan and organize work to meet data deadlines * Provide information to parents, general public and staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely manner Knowledge of: * Child development and challenges faced by students with learning difficulties * Curriculum expectations of grade level to which he/she is assigned * Effective use of computer and relevant educational software applications * Available assistive technologies, with appropriate training * Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy Qualifications/Education: * The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required * Evidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily * Post-secondary training and/or Associate's Degree required * Experience in working within an educational setting preferred * Five or more years' experience working with children with disabilities preferred * Approved CORI and Fingerprinting results Wales Elementary School 41 Main Street Wales, MA 01081 POSTED: 8/26/2024 mahotak@APPLICATION DEADLINE: 9/24/2024 Tantasqua Regional/Union 61Districts are committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
