Project Manager: Counseling Services SUMMARY Under general supervision, plan, execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle, including Non-Public Counseling Services Consultation, developing and delivering professional development, and conducting counselor observations. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. * Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. * Develop and implement feedback mechanisms across the system by completing follow-up interviews and feedback sessions with staff, administrators, and community members. * Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals; Assist in drafting budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary. * Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during the project cycle. * Continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders; identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. * Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools; track project milestones and deliverables. * Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. * Assist in the definition of project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle. * Provide Non-Public Counseling Services Consultation to support non-public school counselors and ensure they receive appropriate consultation services. * Develop and deliver professional development programs for school counselors, including workshops, seminars, and training sessions. * Conduct regular observations of school counselors to assess performance, provide feedback, and support their professional growth. * Manage special projects as they are assigned. * Work independently and make appropriate decisions based on work experience. * Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; act in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. * Enthusiastically promote the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures. * Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and MPS information. * Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis. * At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Education, Counseling, or a related field; AND two (2) years of professional experience in project management and/or strategic planning; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources. Knowledge of: * Minneapolis Public Schools policies and regulations. * Principles and practices of public sector administrative management, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and customer service. * Principles and techniques for project management and organizational development. * Techniques and practices for efficient and cost-effective management of resources. * Principles of record keeping and records management. * Computer software applications related to duties. Skill in: * Interpreting and applying facilities management principles. * Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines. * Analyzing data and recommending effective solutions. * Conforming to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. * Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands. * Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, leadership, and stakeholders. * Operating a personal computer utilizing a wide variety of specialized software. * Communicating effectively verbally and in writing. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work, heavy phone usage, and ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
