POSITION SUMMARY Sandbox Films seeks a Studio Supervisor to support the utilization and maintenance of the equipment, technology, and shared spaces at its NYC headquarters with a state-of-the-art screening room and post-production facilities.The Studio Supervisor will be the main point of contact for scheduling and onboarding screening events and edit residencies and will hold a key role in supporting teams utilizing our shared spaces within the Sandbox office. The Studio Supervisor will be responsible for general studio organization, including, but not limited to pantry and supplies ordering/stocking, cataloging equipment and other assets, and setting up and breaking down events related to the screening room and meetings. In addition, the Studio Supervisor will be responsible for tracking, receiving, and cataloging asset delivery lists from Sandbox film projects, and will assist with the in-house post-production process for Sandbox Films-produced titles as needed.The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a flexible working schedule, be competent in event scheduling and supporting operational workflows, have hands-on experience working in independent feature/documentary post-production, as well as a genuine passion for mission-driven documentary and innovative science storytelling. Experience working as a projectionist, editor, colorist, sound mixer, digital imaging technician (or other relevant post-production role) is a plus.This is a full-time position based in Sandbox Films' headquarters in New York City. This role requires flexibility in work scheduling, including nights and weekends. This schedule will fluctuate depending on the schedule of events in our studio, so maximum flexibility will be required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESManage the scheduling and priority of access to on-site suites and facilities, ensuring efficient use of our technical capabilities.Ensure all private playback sessions and public screenings are supported, as needed, including ingesting film files and ensuring smooth playback experiences, guest registration, reception set up and breakdown.Support company A/V needs including live event audio and digital presentations.Oversee weekly pantry and office supplies ordering and stocking.Accommodate and prepare different post-production set-ups and scenarios (including offline editing, sound mix), as needed.Interface with in house and external experts to troubleshoot any technical issues or specific production/post-production needs that arise. Track delivery lists from individual film teams, confirm satisfactory receipt of deliverables and devise and maintain in-house archive of masters and other project-specific assets.Additionally, on an as needed basis, support for Sandbox Films-produced titles, including:Maintaining communication between producers, editors, Sandbox staff and external stakeholders - coordinating timelines and scheduling of all finishing services - to ensure post-production and delivery deadlines are met.Assist with the coordination and scheduling of external specialists for on-site post-production sessions.Quality-control and ensure complete delivery of final materials to festivals, buyers, distributors or other partners.Support the process for final conform, exports and DCP authoring.Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperienceAt least 3-5 years' experience working in independent feature/documentary post-production, supporting and/or overseeing finishing workflows.At least 3-5 years' experience in a coordinator role handling scheduling requests with a variety of stakeholders.Professional experience or familiarity working with or supporting video editing software including Premiere and Avid, Avid hardware, ProTools and DaVinci Resolve.Professional experience with audio/visual systems/tools including Dante A/V distribution, 4K projection, DCP playback and Sound mixing.Experience with networked computers and server systems.Working knowledge of Premiere/Avid editing workflows.Working knowledge of video formats, aspect ratios, audio formats, codecs and color spaces. Working knowledge of digital file management/archiving and shared online file databases (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive).Working knowledge of Frame.io and Vimeo review platforms and Adobe Creative suite.Related Skills & Other RequirementsStrong communication and organizational skills, with a specific focus on attention to detail; ability to speak comfortably and confidently with filmmakers/producers, scientists and industry executives.Schedule flexibility including nights and weekends, as needed.Ability to prioritize and adapt to the demands of particular projects, while meeting deadlines across all active projects and remaining flexible, calm and focused.Enthusiasm about the Sandbox Films' mission.Physical requirements:Must be able to lift boxes of equipment at times up to 40lbs while receiving shipments, organizing workspaces, and setting up for studio events.
