Summary Exciting opportunity for an experienced Inventory Purchasing Specialist III in the Stores unit of the Solid Waste Division of King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks! If you like delivering excellent customer service and challenging tasks of finding parts, tools, and equipment while also being financially responsible this is the job for you! There are many opportunities to test your talents in the sourcing of parts to support and keep Operations going everyday while also having the satisfaction of seeing a job being completed from start to finish based on your support... This position is responsible for purchasing inventory and services supporting a heavy duty truck/construction equipment shop. This lead position will also plan and organize the work unit. In addition to, procure specialized services and non-stock items, provide cost analysis, and recommend strategies for finding alternative supply sources, ensuring customer needs are met while controlling costs. This position will also work with contracts department to monitor, research, gather information, and support the facilitation of renewing, and/or initiating purchasing agreements. We are filling one (1) temporary Inventory Purchasing Specialist III position with a duration of up to two (2) years. This position will either be a Term-limited temporary for external candidates or Special Duty Assignment for eligible internal candidates. We may use this recruitment to create a list of candidates for any potential vacancies in similar positions within the next 12 months. About the Role: This position will prepare, review, and monitor inventory bid specifications. In addition, this position will plan and organize work unit's schedule as well as deliver training and oversee staff, approve timesheets and coordinate assignments and tasks. Job Duties What You Will Be Doing: * Lead, train and direct other personnel. * Compliance with Federal, state, and local requirements related to safety regulations, hazardous material handling and storage. * Contract development, review, negotiations, administration, and the management of contracts for purchasing goods and services. * Manage fleet maintenance, repair processes, shop work orders and preventive maintenance schedules. * Write scope of service along with requestor for contracts and/or ensure specialized parts, materials, and supplies are selected/recommended. Obtain price quotes, research, and vendors for standard and specialized parts, materials, supplies, etc. * Adhere to governmental purchasing procedures and practices related to bidding, awarding contracts and requesting price quotes. * Update and maintenance of CCG Faster. * Utilizing Oracle Procurement module for a variety of inventory purchasing tasks. * Familiarity with industrial and small equipment parts. * Resolve problems and analyzing issues. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Qualifications You Bring: * A minimum of two (2) years experience leading personnel and/or possess supervisory skills * A minimum of one (1) year experience in heavy duty and industrial parts purchasing, fleet maintenance repair process, and preventative maintenance schedules * Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety regulations * Knowledge of contract development, review, negotiations, administration and management * Skill with using desktop and web based inventory control and management systems * Demonstrated knowledge using computer and MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Competencies You Bring: * Communicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. * Collaborates - Skilled in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. * Customer Focus- Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions. * Action Oriented- Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. * Values Differences- Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization. Required Licenses: * A valid Driver's License upon hire Supplemental Information * Work Location: The work associated with this position will be located: Cedar Hills Landfill, 16645 228th Avenue SE, Maple Valley, WA and subsequently will move to an alternate location in Renton to Farwest building, 201 SW 34th St, Renton, WA. * Work Schedule: This position works a 40-hour workweek and is overtime eligible with Supervisor approval. May be required to work alternative or flexible work schedules to support core service hours. Service hours are weekdays 6 a.m.-9 p.m., and weekends 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required. * Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 - Joint Units Agreement (JUA). * Physical Environment/Requirements: The candidate must be able to work in a high traffic maintenance facility with possible adverse conditions such as noise and dust. The candidate must also have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. at least once daily with or without assistance.
