Performs radiographic and mammography procedures of a highly specialized nature.What you will doPrepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patientsCleans and disinfects x-ray room/equipmentAssists with the preparations of chemical mixtures for mammography biopsies and examsAssists radiologists in the administration of intravenous and subcutaneous material.Prepares patient for exam. Explains procedure, positions patient and assists patient at end of procedureFollows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific X-rays. Adjusts equipment. Determines proper technique. Determines image quality before transmitting exam to PACS.Ensures images have transferred adequately to PACS and radiologist workstationObserves patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's conditionMaintains stock supplies and performs general office dutiesAssist in the performance of quality control testing as neededProtects self and patient from injury and unnecessary radiation by utilizing proper technique factorsAssists in training new staff membersMaintains and respects confidentialityComplies with medical center dress codes by wearing ID badge and maintaining professional appearanceDemonstrates commitment to own work schedule by adhering to attendance standardsAssists and transports patients in emergency situations to designated areas. Arranges for transportation to and from nursing unitsReports and suggestions or positive changes to supervisorIncorporates physiological and developmental age of patients into overall plan for delivery of careResponsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule overtime and evenings/weekend hours in order to meet the operational needs of the Department and/or the HospitalUtilizing and or all Hospital provided equipment and or safe work procedures; employee shall be required to lift all objects as is practicablePerforms other duties as assignedEducation QualificationsGraduate of an approved school of Radiographic Technology RequiredExperience Qualifications1-3 years Minimum of one year of Radiography experience with one year minimum in mammography Required andMust have 15 CME specific to breast imaging for the last 36 months. Required andMust have documentation for the performance of 200 mammograms in the past 24 months RequiredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe employee must be able to perform the physical requirements of this job, including but no limited to, standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing.
