Remember to SAVE your entries.   This Vehicle Operator I position will report to a Correctional Sergeant II. This position involves the operation of vehicles and/or equipment for a female prison facility.    * Safely and skillfully operate a medium size car or van transporting mail and other cargo on an established route * Knowledgeable of the proper operation of assigned vehicle, safe defensive driving techniques, traffic laws and regulations, proper loading procedures and relevant delivery routes  * Attentive to continuous traffic monitoring, constant contact with steering mechanism, requiring eye and hand coordination * Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations * Execute and comprehend oral and written instructions * Perform physical requirements which include standing, bending, and lifting light to heavy cargo * Manage all preventative maintenance of vehicles by completing and submitting required documentation. Report needed repairs and/or damage to supervisor * Other duties will be assigned by the supervisor at various times to meet business needs.   This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.  The work schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday 8am - 5pm. Work may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.  Note to Current State Employees: State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.   If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.   North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders. The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women.
