Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering Disney's entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and managing a global content supply chain - the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also manages technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific! Our Transmission team supports the 24x7 monitoring and operational sustainment for linear and digital distribution of ESPN, ABC and The Walt Disney Company Cable Networks, which include Freeform, Disney Channels, FX and National Geographic offerings. You will work with cutting-edge technology and be responsible for the most valuable sports & entertainment content airing on our linear & digital networks. In 2023, Bristol Transmission acquired & conditioned over 280K contribution feeds utilizing satellite, fiber & IP transport, supporting studio shows & live sports for ESPN & ABC and digital offerings on ESPN+ & our authenticated ESPN3 / TV Everywhere platforms. Responsibilities: * Manages a team of individual contributor direct reports (non-exempt). Ownership of direct report relationships and oversight of annual commitments, six month & yearly performance reviews. * Creates competency training plans for TX Specialists and is responsible for their implementation. * Coordinates Operations staff and workflows to ensure error free operations, optimum staff allocation and workflow efficiency during assigned shift. * Provides oversight, operational guidance, and performance related feedback to the Transmission Operations staff. * Assists TX Managers in the creation and administration of departmental policy & standard operating procedures. * Ensures that Transmission conforms to Disney Entertainment / ESPN technical and operating standards. * Communicates operational issues and appropriate follow-up information with all affected parties, assuring awareness for all collaborators. * Requires a comprehensive understanding of department functions and roles accurate coordination with department managers and staff. * Provides research, analysis, information, and assistance in developing crucial Transmission area technical modifications & upgrades. Works with Engineering teams as a primary Transmission management liaison to implement forward thinking projects to prepare for growth or "next gen" technology. * Coordinates staff assignments and performs on-the-spot reassignments as needed. * Steps in as needed to provide operational mentorship to Operations and Engineering personnel in diagnosing resolving corrective action. * Supervise the daily responsibilities of the TX operational staff. This includes but not limited to scheduling assessment and role assignments, follow up on network discrepancies and critical reporting, run training ongoing learning opportunities. * Participation in the screening, interviewing and recommendations associated with the hiring process for the TX team. * Accountable for assigned projects and keeping leaders informed of updates, challenges, or successful completion. * Support Business Continuity (DR) to best protect networks originating at the Bristol and The Woodlands Transmission facilities and establish relationships with internal and external business partners, with a strong focus on harmony between the facilities. Basic Qualifications: * A minimum of 5-years' experience in the broadcast industry. * Extensive knowledge of the workings of advanced Transmission or Broadcast Operation Centers. * Must exhibit an elevated level of leadership skills and maturity. * Basic project management skills to help get results. * Ability to react quickly and effectively to issues that arise whether they are air affecting, scheduling, customer related, etc. * Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. * High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
