CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Office Clerk SALARY: $31,885.29 - $41,240.95 DEPARTMENT: Friend Of The Court Opening Date: 06/11/2024 Closing Date: 06/26/2024 12:00 a.m. FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - overtime pursuant to Human Resources and Labor Relations Policy EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period GENERAL SUMMARY Under direction, performs various clerical and support tasks. Performs related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Types a variety of materials, including memos, letters, forms, envelopes, reports and other correspondence. Enters information on records and forms. Maintains clerical records and files. Provides telephone coverage, answering questions appropriate to skill level; relays messages to appropriate individuals or departments. Assists others in determining needs and explains office regulations, policies and procedures and/or provides information. Makes duplicate copies of reports and/or information and routes to proper persons, departments and/or files. Receives, screens, sorts and/or counts materials such as applications, permits and forms. Separates, sorts and stuffs envelopes for mailing or distribution. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers, digital imaging systems, fax machines, copiers, and calculators. Performs related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education and Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred Education and Experience * One (1) year of clerical experience * Previous Michigan Child Support Enforcement System (MiCSES) experience * Previous OnBase Document Imaging System experience COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of: * Office terminology, procedures and equipment * Microsoft Word and Excel * Google products, such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs * OnBase Document Imaging System Skill in: * Decision making in accordance with laws, regulations and established policies and procedures * Organization and initiative * Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships * Performing a variety of tasks in a high volume and fast paced environment with frequent interruptions Ability to: * Maintain clerical records and prepare reports from such records * Work in an environment which embraces the county's Dignity Campaign * Effectively speak, write and understand the English language * Effectively speak, write and understand a language other than English is preferred * Understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions * Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files * Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries * Work independently WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS The work environment and exposures described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
