Job Summary Manages the daily operations of the assigned production area(s) in support of the department's season and oversees the application of production elements. Works with technical crew, designers, and management to ensure productions are completed safely, promptly, and within budget. Responsible for hiring guest artists, casual labor, and guest lecturers. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Supervises, plans, and manages daily production and performance operations and staff of the assigned location in consultation with manager and/or department leadership 2. Negotiates, executes and reconciles rental contracts for external, internal and RSO users and rental clients 3. Assists with technical production and artistic needs for the department as assigned 4. Manages budgets for the assigned area and oversees the purchasing of production elements 5. Develops reports and projections, and reconciles the general ledger 6. Works collaboratively with staff, administrators, and faculty to meet the program and department's goals 7. Primary point of contact between housekeeping, student activities, university events, Patron services, plant ops, and the location 8. Maintains Event Management System and provides as needed event documentation to each supporting entity 9. Supports department projects and initiatives, attends meetings as scheduled 10. Responsible for labor hires, student assistant and student supervision to ensure proper staffing for all events, performances and/or productions Required Qualifications Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Required Experience: One (1) year related work experience or at least two (2) years of student employment experience with a concentration in theater production, management, or related experience or the successful completion of the related arts program competencies as documented by the manager. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications: An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field Preferred Experience: Experience in a comparable role at an institution of higher education Previous supervisory experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIES: Able to work with theater specific control devices such as audio and lighting consoles Able to supervise stagehands including professionals, interns and students Able to model industry best-practices for students Able to demonstrate and show basic stage craft skills Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of production of live theatre events and use of theater specific software Knowledge of budgetary processes SKILLS: Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, and both Mac and Window¿s OS) Strong attention to detail and follow up skills Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette USG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
