Job Description: General Objectives: Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Shift Supervisor, the Preventative Maintenance (PM) Technician typically works a 12 hour, straight day, 5-4 schedule. The role of the PM Technician is to maintain all heavy mining equipment through planned maintenance; monitors equipment; communicates equipment needs and issues; partners with operations departments and mobile planning to provide both tactical and strategic support for the needs of the equipment. Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties: The key responsibilities of the PM Technician include, but are not limited to the following: * Assist in maintaining inventory of service kits, lubes, oils, and other supplies * Capable of cleaning, washing, and inspecting equipment at a prominent level, report repairs required and assist in scheduling repairs * Support shop technicians with backlog repairs * Perform preventative maintenance such as changing oil, greasing, and other PM tasks on a scheduled routine basis on the Hitachi EH500 trucks, Komatsu 930E trucks, Caterpillar support equipment including dozers, graders, and other misc. support equipment * Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions by utilizing service manuals, parts books, electrical, and hydraulic manuals * Capable of completing the CMMS loop (Create, add work order comments and material lists, charge time, and close work orders) * Ability to adapt to changing technology methods * Capable of reading and disseminating information from schematics and maintenance manuals * Communicates and coordinates all repairs with the maintenance supervisor * Ability to order correct parts for procurement from the warehouse or supplier * Implements continuous improvement of maintenance strategy that fully utilizes available workforce to achieve maximum equipment availability * Performs work area housekeeping duties * Determines if work areas are safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments * Determines severity of equipment down times and estimates time to make repairs * Responsible for compliance with company contamination control policies * Unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship including immediately reporting and mitigating spills and other environmental impacts * Must be able to communicate effectively, in English, using all standard forms of business communication Required Skills: * The willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions * Ability to safely lift 50 pounds * A good work ethic with the ability to work well with others * Good verbal and written communication skills * Ability to adapt to changing technology methods * Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP * Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills * Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings * Own and maintain required personal tools Required Experience: * Minimum one year experience of heavy equipment maintenance is required * Proven experience as a mechanic, with a preference of 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance * Experience with, or the ability to learn about and use, parts issuing process * Knowledge of parts and servicing of Cat, Hitachi & Komatsu equipment * Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in heavy machinery * Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in equipment maintenance * Understanding of failure and wear analysis * Strong understanding of safety policies and procedures relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices (i.e., guarding, blocking, lock out tag out) SSR Mining Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
