We are looking for faculty and staff who are passionate about providing excellent service to ensure a high quality student experience and collaborative working environment.The Cashier works primarily in the retail operation, handling cash and credit transactions from Marymount University customers. Their main function is to accurately operate the cash register/POS and complete the transactions. Provides support to the retail operation, including setup, maintaining supplies and products, and assisting in cleanup and closedown at Bernie's. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperates a cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks and charges from customers or employees for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customersResponsible for accurate ring of proper PLU for sale items and/or accurate barcode scanProvides the highest quality of service to customers at all timesMaintains proper security of cash at all timesUnderstands and follows Sodexo cash-handling policies and proceduresMay also be required to prepare for service before the meal and clean the dining room after the meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area)May set up and stock the beverage area, grab and go items, service ware and condiments or other assigned areasAttends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service trainingReports all accidents and injuries in a timely mannerComplies with all safety and risk management policies and proceduresParticipates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessmentsAttends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designatedMay assist in locating, reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operating peripheral equipment that records and supports non-cash transactionsMay perform other duties and responsibilities as assignedJOB REQUIREMENTSEducation Associate's degree (AA) or two-year equivalent preferred, but not requiredExperience Willingness to be open to learning and growingMaturity of judgment and behaviorMaintains high standards for work areas and appearanceMaintains a positive attitudeAbility to work a flexible schedule helpfulMust comply with any dress code requirementsMust be able to work nights, weekends and some holidaysAttends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularitySkills/AptitudePresents self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essentialAbility to maintain a positive attitudeAbility to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respectMaintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representativesAbility to use a computerAbility to provide clear directions and respond to employeesBasic math skills including the ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, count, and reconcile cash drawers/banks, and post to recordsPhysical Requirements Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lensesSignificant walking or other means of mobilityAbility to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 poundsFinancial Responsibility Processes or records financial transactions within established guidelines and safeguards.Supervision N/ASpecial Knowledge Knowledge of cash register system software, Word, and ExcelSPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONSNoneMarymount University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
