IMPORTANT: All applicants for this role must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and possess an active CTRS credential from NCTRC.Job Description:Broadstep Behavioral Health is actively seeking a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in the Simpsonville, SC area. The Recreational Specialist is responsible for providing support to children and adolescents which includes creating and planning outings, activities, and events in a residential treatment facility. The Recreational Specialist will help to maintain an organized and sanitary program environment, in addition to ensuring that daily supplies for programs and activities are maintained, sanitized, and organized according to all company policies and procedures, State licensing standards, and accreditation guidelines.About the Company:Broadstep has been a leader in"¯providing a continuum of physical, emotional, and mental support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental illness, and co-occurring disorders for over 45 years."¯Broadstep's South Carolina programs offer compassionate care and evidence-based practices to stabilize, treat, and formalize a discharge plan at admission to move each individual to a community placement or family home when leaving one of our three Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities in the state. South Carolina offers a continuum of services to meet individual needs and is CARF accredited.Go to to learn more about the company.Schedule & Location: Full-time, 8am-5pm (flexible), located in Simpsonville, SC.Job Type: This is a fully onsite role that is not eligible for remote work.Job Duties:• Develop groups and programs in consideration of the needs, abilities, and interests of the individuals served via a variety of formats including small group, one on one, and large group.• Research new ideas for programs and activities, taking into consideration participants' suggestions.• Initiate and plan the weekly program therapeutic schedule in conjunction with the Clinical Services Manager as well as communicating effectively with the Program Manager to initiate daily programs and activities.• Purchase items needed for activities, set up activity spaces, train team members, and ensure that safety measures are put in place.• Assists with transporting and/or escorting individuals to, from and within the program, on Broadstep grounds, and on external trips.• The Recreational Specialist is responsible for completing recreational assessments, developing recreational goals within 30 days of a new admission, and documenting weekly progress notes for all individuals to track progression.• All duties must be performed with the highest level of integrity and executed in accordance with Broadstep policies and procedures and adhere to all regulatory requirements.• All other duties as assigned.Required Education:• Possess a minimum of bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Therapeutic Recreation, ABA, or related field OR a bachelor's degree in unrelated field with a minimum of 2 years' experience in similar role.Required Certification:• Active CTRS credential from NCTRC is required for this role.Other Requirements:• Have two (2) years' experience providing recreational groups/activities or similar activities.• Have one (1) year of experience with individuals meeting the program admission criteria (preferred).• Possess entry-level proficiency in computer applications to include, but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint,• Possess excellent communication skills (written and oral), strong organizational skills.• Meet all licensing requirements set forth by the respective state of operation.• Possess a valid, regular (non-probationary) state driver's license if the individual will be driving either their personal vehicle for on-the-job purposes or any agency vehicles.• Possess personal vehicle insurance that meets the minimum expectations/coverage if the Team member will be driving their personal vehicle for on-the-job purposes as detailed in the Broadstep Transportation Policy.• Successfully passed a background check, drug screening, and physical.• Have demonstrated leadership ability: the ability to integrate the vision of the organization with all supportive services and personnel.• Demonstrate leadership in maintaining high standards of professional behavior for self and staff; V) Have excellent organizational, problem solving, creative and independent thinking skills; VI) Demonstrate cultural competency and a commitment to diversity management.• Demonstrate exemplary professional writing skills and attention to written detail.• Demonstrate exemplary professional etiquette when engaging with both individuals and staff"¯What we offer:• 4 weeks of PTO in your first year!• Medical/Dental/Vision• 401K• Life Insurance• Paid HolidaysBroadstep, Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer, prohibits discrimination based on the following protected categories: race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex/gender, marital status, civil status, domestic partnership status, familial status, religion, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or disability.#SC-T
