The faculty of CMEP works collaboratively and interactively with the College of Medicine faculty at CMU to deliver an innovative curriculum to CMU medical students.Do you have the skills to fill this role Read the complete details below, and make your application today.Because CMU Medical Education Partners (CMEP) is a separate legal entity (and employer) from CMU, the employment opportunities available through CMEP are not employment positions with CMU.ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / RESERVATIONS / UNIVERSITY EVENTSThe Assistant Director of Reservations University Events is a full-time, professional position, with the primary responsibility of assisting with event and meeting reservations, systems management, as well as scheduling functions of University Events on CMU's Mount Pleasant campus. Operates under the supervision of the Director of University Events.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree, preferably in areas directly related to any of the following areas of study: event management, recreation, sports management, project management, public relations, communications, organizational behavior, logistics, hospitality, hotel management, or marketing.Three years of professional experience working in event planning and/or production, preferably in a university environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated ability to provide training and experience communicating and creating executive-level professional correspondence and communicating across stakeholder groups with superior interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work with database-driven software platforms and proficiency with utilization of various technologies and software.Demonstrated ability to resolve and manage conflict proactively and project a positive attitude.Exceptional telephone, organizational, and project management skills and experience.Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and provide detailed and concise and responsive communications.Ability to manage complex tasks efficiently and effectively, including prompt and persistent review of project deadlines and event needs.Exceptional verbal and written communication, proofreading skills, and attention to detail.Ability to develop positive rapport with students, administrators, and faculty and be a talented problem-solver.Maintain the highest level of quality, professionalism, and integrity in all departmental tasks.Demonstrated ability to take ownership of all assignments, ensuring all milestones are clearly communicated and met.Ability to direct and perform detailed work with accuracy under time demands.Ability to work in a cross-functional team-oriented environment.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree.Working knowledge of event management platforms and technology.Five years of professional experience working in event planning and/or production, preferably in a university environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge of and experience maintaining websites.Supervisory experience in an environment managing in-time responsiveness and ability to manage expectations of high-profile programs and initiatives.Experience managing students and/or team and creating an environment that prioritizes leadership and mentorship opportunities.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides oversight of reservations, scheduling, systems support for meetings, complex events, and maintains support calendars for vendors, facilities, and website, and online event submissions and platforms.Provides operational support as assigned to include monitoring request responses and preparing availability grids and timeline tracking.Coordinates the support housed in the event platforms and supports the streamlined flow of event intake and resolution and the creation of reporting and training resources and maintenance across platforms.Prepares event and system audits and all close-out documentation for Director review and maintains continual communication on progress.Provides customer service and communication of event standards, production services, event compliance, and campus policies, and reservation guidelines to planners, faculty, and students including facility usage.Provides proactive support to manage the event process and motivate the team.Strategically plans and supports reservations and systems to create a streamlined experience for events, programs, and projects for the CMU campus and community.Promotes the department philosophy and practice of sustainable event management practices and scheduling.Supervises, trains, and supports student staff on systems, platforms, and event processes.Maintains business files for University Events and stores and retrieves data for ongoing reports.Additional duties as assigned by the Director.Employee GroupProfessional & Administrative -SalaryPay Range$50,000 - $62,000Position StatusRegularEmployment StatusFull-TimeLocationMount Pleasant, MIAbout CMUCentral Michigan University has a more than 125-year legacy of preparing students to become leaders and changemakers in their communities and in their personal and professional lives.
