JOB SUMMARY The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for multiple communities' financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management. This position reports to the Controller and is located in the corporate office in Scottsdale, AZ. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare the community's monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per GAAP and within applicable reporting deadlines. Prepare monthly community report variance analysis, assist with annual budgets, and other periodic reporting. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for each community. Monitor/oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory conducted at each community by the Business Office Director (community's bookkeeper). Regular communication and coordination with each community's Regional VPO, Executive Director, and Business Office Director. Monitor community cash activity daily, weekly, and monthly. Prepare cash flow forecasts and estimates as needed. Complete bank account reconciliations. Coordinate/oversee compliance with applicable accounting policies and procedures by Community Business Office Directors. Responsible for meeting all external financial reporting requirements required by the company's external investors/lenders/CPAs. Responsible for ensuring all community accounting records and documentation are maintained properly. Responsible for reporting community bank requirements. Responsible for tracking capital improvement projects as required by the community. Other responsibilities as requested. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE An accounting degree or equivalent is required. A minimum of 2-4 years of senior accounting experience is required. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, accuracy, and exceptional attention to detail. Advanced Excel skills are preferred. Yardi software experience is preferred. Experience with multi-company accounting is a plus. Strong communication, analytical, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work with limited supervision.
