The anticipated salary range for this role is between $144,000.00 and $180,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Job Summary The SMBC Nikko Securities Inc., Capital Markets (CM) Business Control Officer (BCO) associate risk and control individual contributor. The BCO will assist the CM BCO lead on execution of the Business Control framework. Scope The SMBC Nikko Securities Inc., Capital Markets (CM) Business Control Officer is primarily an individual contributor. The SMBC Nikko Securities Inc.,Capital Markets (CM) BCO is responsible for assisting in the review of CM processes, risk & controls. Primary Responsibilities Assist the CM BCO lead on assessment of process and controls effectiveness across the end-to-end transaction lifecycle. Assist in the build-out of the new Global Risk & Control (GRC) tool for the CM Businesses including updating processes, risk and controls and related attributes. Proactively manage assessment updates in a timely manner. Coordinate updates to reporting on Issues Management in alignment with newly created Issues Management forum requirements. Assist in the development and reporting of Key Risk Indicators. Provide reporting to various Risk and Control forums on monthly basis. Provide reporting updates on various control related initiatives to the Head and Vertical BCOs. Work with BCO Central Control testing teams on testing requirements. Liase with business on providing required support for testing. Assist with facilitating New Business workflows from a process, risk and control perspective in conjunction with business sponsors. Assist with investigation and remediation of operational risk incidents, including incident investigation and reporting, Root Cause Analysis and process/control improvement recommendations. Assist with building out the supervisory framework for business heads, including any necessary tools and infrastructure. Critical Job Knowledge and Core Competencies/Skills Functional knowledge of capital markets-focused processes, risks and controls Functional knowledge of incident and issue management Functional knowledge of change management and process improvement best practices Functional knowledge of Operational Risk & Control Frameworks, with focus on Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and control testing Functional knowledge for evaluating control design and operating effectiveness Requirements Work Experience: 10+ years of specialized experience in Financial Services; 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role in a Capital Markets function or a closely related area at a major global financial institution. Required Education: BA / BS Preferred Education: MA / MS / MBA in a relevant discipline (e.g., finance, accounting, mathematics, economics) Licenses / Certifications / Registrations: Securities Industry Essential (SIE) Exam and Series 7 preferred Business fluency in the following language(s): English Software Systems / Programming Languages : Expertise in Microsoft Office with focus on Excel and Visio required Percentage of Travel Required: 0-10% Work Environment SMBC's "5 Values" guide the overall culture of the work environment - Customer First; Proactive/Innovative; Speed; Quality; and Team SMBC.
