Job Description

28th October, 2024 This position is responsible for supporting capital and special projects/programs that occur within our company related to Corrosion Control and Design. This position will ensure adequate and consistent corrosion control designs (CP, AC/DC Interference, Coatings, etc.) are developed and implemented during all phases of new and existing projects Job Responsibilities: Functional Expertise: Responsible to perform AC/DC interference monitoring and develop sound, technical solutions for remediation Responsible for designing new Cathodic Protection (CP) systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures Responsible for complex CP troubleshooting activities and generation of appropriate maintenance and remediation orders Responsible for review of corrosion control designs for new construction or other / special projects Ensures projects are designed and installed according to plans, specifications, procedures, and regulations Review and evaluate new corrosion control technology for use. Assist with development of corresponding procedures Responsible for monitoring new CP installation projects to ensure successful completion in accordance with plans and procedures Responsible for timely cathodic protection troubleshooting (i.e. low systems, shorted conditions) Responsible for timely creation of remediation work orders (i.e. install anodes, clear short, install insulator, repair / replace test station). Follows through with necessary departments to ensure timely completion Business Acumen: Monitors corrosion control records to ensure compliance Evaluates corrosion control processes and procedures; suggests modifications and updates to improve efficiency, clarity, and understanding Provides sound, technical guidance to Corrosion Technicians to address complex CP issues Engagement: Provide technical support for pipeline replacement projects and prioritization Provides technical support for cathodic protection replacement, enhancement, or remediation projects Driving Results: Generates reports as needed Assists with implementation of accelerated actions (DIMP) & additional preventive and mitigative measures (TIMP) Reviews and analyzes Cathodic Protection, leak history, and other pertinent data to identify trends and develop appropriate remedial measures Troubleshoots complex corrosion control and cathodic protection issues; works with others to resolve Enter compliance records accurately into the appropriate system of record in a timely fashion Participates as needed in regulatory audits to ensure success Qualifications Education, Certifications/Licenses: Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution NACE Certified Cathodic Protection Technologist CP3 Valid drivers license Preferred: NACE Certified Cathodic Protection Specialist CP4 NACE Coating Inspector - Level 1 or higher Professional Engineering License, Project Management Professional Related Work Experience: Required: 4 years' work experience in pipeline cathodic protection and corrosion control Specific Skills & Knowledge: Required: MS Office - intermediate proficiency CAD/GIS - basic proficiency Attention to detail and strong analytical skills Ability to read, interpret, and implement codes, standards, and procedures Ability to identify process improvements and work with others to develop appropriate processes and procedures Knowledge of electrical principles - intermediate proficiency Advanced cathodic protection system design and maintenance Advanced cathodic protection system troubleshooting Preferred: Cathodic Protection Data Manager (CPDM) proficiency Geographic Information System (GIS) proficiency Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Travel: Frequent local travel with occasional (5 - 20%) overnight travel. Must possess a valid driver's license Physical Demands: This position occasionally requires prolonged standing or walking. This position occasionally requires the incumbent to reach above shoulder level. This position occasionally requires the incumbent to bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Work Environment: The incumbent works in an office environment. The incumbent may work near or with moving mechanical parts. The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals. The incumbent may be exposed to varying outdoor weather conditions. The incumbent may be exposed to excessive noise.
