Equipment Electrical Design Engineer Round Lake, IL - 6 month contract with potential for extension ONSITE - Sponsorship not available for this role now or in the future The Electrical Design Engineer within the Pharmaceutical Process Automation Group is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for automated machines and equipment used in manufacturing of pharmaceutical sterile liquids and medical device assembly. This role is critical to providing vital systems for life-saving medicines and therapies. Key Responsibilities: Work with mechanical designers during the mechanical design process to design an electrical system that will enable the machine to perform its intended function safely and reliably. Formulate and produce a complete electrical design package, which includes detailed electrical and pneumatic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials and material requisitions, based on OEM standard specifications and the customers' requirements. Work with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with the goals being enhanced safety, enhanced functionality and reduced cost. Work with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to ensure that labor budgets and material budgets are adhered to or improved upon. Specify all electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases. Integrate third party equipment and electronic component entry into electrical design packages. Examples include serial and network communications, hardware handshaking, opto-isolation, electrical and ultrasonic welding applications, vision systems, motion control products, transducers and signal conditioners. Verify that electrical design package is complete, accurate and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards, and that the I/O drawings meet program requirements prior to issue to shop floor. Work with customers, project engineers, controls engineers, designers, and technicians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete, functional system. Work with controls engineers and others to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology. Provide customers with training specific to their current project (i.e. electrical hardware, machine operation, programming principles, program functionality and program structure). Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues that arise during the design, construction, or installation phases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, automation specialists, and quality assurance personnel, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in electrical control systems. Adhere to internal EHS regulations and industry-specific safety standards to maintain a safe and balanced workplace. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. 3+ years of proven experience in designing and implementing electrical systems for automated equipment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industries. Proficiency in electrical design software Strong understanding of electrical principles, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and specifications. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
