ABOUT Slate Slate is a new company that is exploring development in the electric vehicle space. Who we are looking for: Slate is looking for a multifaceted, expert Warranty Lead to join our growing team. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warranty Lead to design and implement a comprehensive warranty process from the ground up. The ideal candidate will develop a system that enhances customer satisfaction, minimizes risk, and ensures compliance with all legal requirements. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to financially sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for this opportunity currently What you get to do: This role will start out as an individual contributor evolving into a manager position. Primary Responsibilities: Design and lead the end-to-end warranty process including system selection, reporting, budgeting, adjudication escalation, hiring, and implementation of warranty software. Integrate warranty software solutions for tracking and handling claims and ensure seamless integration with existing company systems (QMS/PLM/ERP). Establish clear warranty terms and conditions that are transparent to customers and dealers. This includes authoring the warranty manual. Design and lead all aspects of the warranty claim process, ensuring efficient and fair evaluation, approval, and denial of claims. Hire, train and lead a team of warranty specialists to handle claims processing, customer inquiries, and dispute resolution. Analyze warranty data to identify trends, report on key performance indicators, and recommend product or process improvements. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to warranties. Prepare and manage the warranty department budget and provide input into the warranty reserve/accrual. Secondary Responsibilities: Maintain relationships with suppliers and partners regarding warranty parts and services. Assist in supplier recovery of warranty claims with the Quality department and Supply Chain department. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, quality, engineering, purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, accessories and customer service, to gather input and integrate warranty considerations into product development and support. Be responsible for the software system integration into the company with integration into ERP, Digital, PLM, QMS and Manufacturing system. Participate in regular industry training sessions and conferences to stay updated on the latest trends. Report on warranty KPI's including early warning of claims and continuous improvement activities for engineering and manufacturing with the Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality department. Occasional travel based on location and department needs. What you bring to the team: Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or related field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree experience in running a warranty center for at least 15 years. Minimum of 8 years of warranty management or related experience with an emphasis on delivering warranty software implementations. Strong understanding of warranty processing, manufacturing processes and quality control. Experience with a system implementation and onboarding a new software system Proficient in warranty management software and CRM systems. Demonstrated ability to hire, lead and train teams. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to easily collaborate and communicate with multiple disciplines within the company to achieve goals including digital, ERP, Quality, manufacturing, engineering, legal, finance and tax. Industry Knowledge of warranty and the multiple aspects of warranty including extended warranty, dynamic warranty planning and industry trends and standards. Deep understanding of the warranty processes and implications for TREAD and NHTSA reporting.
