Compensation and Benefits: Compensation: Starting wage of $20.50, adjusted based on experience Benefits: Full-time, year-round, benefitted position including: Optional company subsidized medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, health savings account, employer paid short term disability & long-term disability offerings 401(k) retirement plan (with company match up to 5%) Paid parental leave Paid time off, holiday, and sick pay Free season pass for employee/dependents Privileges at several other resorts Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, friends & family tickets, etc.) Job Summary: The Lift Mechanic is primarily responsible for ski lift maintenance, both preventative and unscheduled, working closely with the Lift Operations and Lift Electrical teams. This is a challenging position in an outside environment that typically incudes the use of snowmobiles and ATV's, climbing ski lift towers and servicing on-mountain systems in all weather conditions. Summary of Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Monitor and assist in maintaining all lift equipment to ensure safe operation Diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance on all ski lift systems and equipment Climb chairlift towers to troubleshoot/repair equipment at heights up to 70 feet Maintain all required record keeping and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner Safely operate snowmobiles and respond to stopped lift issues quickly and efficiently in all types of weather conditions Must maintain OSHA requirements, as well as the ANSI B.77 ski lift code. Attend all necessary training pertaining to the job, including the Vermont Tramway Apprenticeship program Must be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business Assist in training new technicians and lift operations staff Be punctual and dependable, pay attention to detail, and use good judgement During winter season, inspect lifts for any existing or potential problems, and maintain and repair lifts Perform line checks: check sheaves for problems such as bad bearings, liner wear, flat spots, and so forth Visually check chairs and towers Perform drive checks: check all machinery and mechanical parts of the drive station, including fluid levels, brake pads, hoses, etc. Perform return checks: check carriage, guide sheaves, counterweight cables, height of counterweight, return wheel and liner. During regular inspections, make necessary minor adjustments, perform a variety of preventive maintenance work on lifts, and repair or replace worn or broken parts. When mechanical problems are reported, locate and diagnose problems, and plan and perform necessary repairs, or report major problems to supervisor During summer, perform a variety of lifts maintenance and construction tasks and projects Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done Maintain tools, equipment, and shop work areas Provide superior service to our customers (internal and external) at all times. Follow the Resort Etiquette Guidelines while interacting with the guests and respond to all guests in a courteous, efficient manner Perform other tasks as assigned Basic Qualifications: Basic education (high school), with formal training in mechanics desirable, plus two to three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Valid driver's license Broad base of basic mechanical knowledge and skills relevant to chair lifts, including welding, rigging, engine and motor operation and repair, electrical systems Must be able to use mechanical tools, including power and hand tools Familiarity with hydraulic systems, rigging, diesel maintenance and PLC control systems Familiarity with snowmobile, ATV/UTV, and heavy equipment safety and operation Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently Must be able to bend, squat, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level frequently Must be able to use hands for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation in repair of machinery Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments Strong interpersonal communication and guest service skills Ability to commit to working weekends and holidays Comfortable working in extreme mountain weather conditions Knowledge of ski lift operation and controls It is the policy of Killington/Pico Ski Resort Partners, LLC to provide equal opportunity and employment to all staff and applicants.
