Position Summary: This position is part of the research unit in Channel Management and is responsible for processing exception mail, such as non-Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) forms, correspondence, incomplete forms and checks, missing account information, etc. Searches for missing information using paper documents, automated systems such as the Astra Tax Processing (ATP), and the internet. Contacts taxpayer for missing information while educating them on the proper way to complete KDOR forms. Creates batch cover sheets making sure correspondence is routed to the correct worklist and inhouse vouchers for check processing. Opens over 12 different tax type mail sent to our processing facility (Channel), including the more complex tax types, normally not opened by temporary employees. Performs data entry of vouchers and returns in Channel's Fairfax system. Provides training to permanent and temporary employees. Assists other areas in Channel as needed. Overtime may be required during tax season. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Preferred Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, editing, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate would have experience conducting research and working in an office team environment.
