Overview: This position supports COLUMBIA Class. The Waterfront Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering and design construction support for submarines. This position requires that the Engineer work in a design, build, and sustain environment to develop build strategies and conceptualize methods and fixtures required for fabricating and assembling submarine components, structures, ships systems and associated modules. Primary responsibilities for a manufacturing engineer will be identification and development of methods and tools required by the shipbuilder. Duties include development of designs for tooling and fixtures, preparation of Manufacturing Engineering Documents for sequence and alignment critical installations, and direct shipyard support. Daily interaction with related engineers/designers, ship yard trades, manufacturing vendors, and planning representatives from Groton, Quonset Point and Newport News is expected. Travel between Groton and Quonset Point may be required. This position may be located at Eagle Park or Groton based on department need. Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or related technical B.S. degree Demonstrated 2+ years engineering experience in a related field. A background in structural analysis and/or finite element analysis methods. Preferred: Construction support experience.
