Sanfilippo & Son, Inc.Job Description - Fabrication Shop Manager Summary of the Position: The Fabrication Shop Manager serves as the technical liaison between the fabrication shop and the engineering team. With expertise in manufacturing processes, the Fabrication shop manager evaluates plans as designed by engineering, confers with the fabrication team and makes recommendations as to creating andor fabricating of the linesprojects which will result in greater efficiency or cost savings. The fabrication manager also supports and provides daily supervision to the Fabrication shop employees including training and evaluations. Functions of the Position: Supervises fabrication shop employees including daily supervision, training, and evaluation, as well as direct employee oversight in the shop or on the plant floor during building phase of new projects andor retrofits. Evaluates production equipment andor new project specifications to develop timelines with in-house employee resources and liaise with engineering staff andor VP of Engineering to propose changes if needed, and upon approval, fabricates and implements to complete project timelines. Prepares fabrication & installation portion of project schedules, monitors relevant project costs and works with Project Manager(s) to provide summaries for VP of Engineering. Works with vendors in sourcing fabrication shop supplies and related equipment and negotiating for pricing and services. Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements. Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager. Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas. Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development. Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Knowledge: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required, in engineering, manufacturing processes, or related field. Five plus years' experience in manufacturing processes and project management. Knowledge of the foodnut industry highly preferred. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Skills and Competencies: Strong computer skills. Strong people skills to manage and motivate fabrication staff and others to achieve project timelines. Ability to stand up to eight hours per day, manual dexterity, ability to lift 30 pounds, and walk large facilities.
