Summary of Job Description: Incumbent oversees intelligence gathering and investigations for legal hearings and acts as MTGC's advocate/counsel on various hearings to maintain the integrity of gaming and the interests of The Mohegan Tribe. Incumbent also coordinates with various federal, state and local agencies in investigations and ensures that all applicable procedures and tribal laws and ordinances are followed. Minimum Requirements: Experience conducting and supervising sensitive background investigations of individuals and entities involved in the gaming industry Ability to prepare and administer budgets for a specialized investigative unit Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills Ability to analyze problems and determine solutions, ability to read and interpret laws, policies, procedures Considerable negotiation and conflict resolution skills Analyzes, appraises, organizes facts, evidence and precedents; presents such in a clear and logical format Complete understanding of the principles, practices, methods, material and references utilized in administrative law and appeal proceedings and legal research and legal drafting Juris Doctorate from an accredited school of law and admitted into a State bar Member of the Connecticut Bar within one (1) year of employment Four (4) years of practice as an attorney in a mid-sized to large law firm environment, or federal, state or tribal agency law department with a focus on criminal prosecutions or administrative hearings practice in a regulatory setting Five (5) years' work experience in a field requiring investigations, interviewing and report writing (i.e., law enforcement, private investigations, casino investigations, state/tribal gaming regulatory agencies) Additional Requirements: No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude or issues of integrity The Mohegan Tribal Government is committed to Native American Preference and is an Equal Opportunity Employer
