Senior Mechanical Engineer 100% onsite role in Salt Lake City UT FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary The Sr. Mechanical Engineer has a leadership role that provides mechanical design solutions to complex problems, machine upgrades, creates a machine spec, and outsources a machine build. A key player to support business unit needs with respect to scrap and MUV reduction, machine OEE and yield improvements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Capable of designing stations and tooling for automation machines that can improve product quality, machine uptime and performance, and reduce scrap. These stations can be comprised of servo motors or pneumatic actuators, pick-and-place stations, test stations, and poke-yoke designs. Proficiency in Solidworks is required. • Independently able to identify the root-cause and drive corrective and preventative actions • Hands on experience with the following but not limited to: Machine design, machine fixture design, CAM driven machines, pneumatic actuators, servos, stepper motors, EFD dispensing valves, vision systems, sensors, ultra-sonic welding, pick-and-place mechanisms, pad printing, electrical test instruments, air-leak testers. • Capable to perform reverse engineering, measure and spec out tooling, and create 3D models and drawings. • Experience with the high volume fully automated production machines is desired . • Determine machine requirements, evaluate needs and translate them into feasible and economical equipment solutions. • Experience with lean manufacturing such as (yield improvements, machine uptime improvements, MUV/scrap reduction, changeover time reduction) • Experience with process validation support IQ/OQ/PQ is desired. • Direct experience required in formulating detailed project plans and managing activities/tasks and track progress electronically. • Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts, challenges, and project plans to all levels of the organization. Knowledge & Skills • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results.
