Job Description SummaryAdministering to daily technical issues; understanding the product end use and material constraints defining internal requirements necessary to produce the product and addressing customer technical concerns.Essential Functions1. Define Key process parameters and establish process capabilities and control methodology.2. Develop efficient methods of manufacturing to meet product requirements3. Develop and implement cost reductions, product improvement, process improvement and yield improvement processes that are sustainable.4. Monitor product performance - properties, physical characteristics (length, straightness, surface condition) and yield.5. Review customer specifications for acceptance6. Interface with sales personnel and customers to resolve any differential between customer requirements and SMC capabilities7. Maintain document control systems and associated databases8. Participate in Management review meetings as needed9. Interface with customers on quality related issues Additional Responsibilities QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBS in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science; advance degree a plus. A thorough understanding of physical metallurgy as it applies to thermomechanical processing and the properties of metals is also required. 1 to 3 years of experience is preferred.Special SkillsThe Process Engineer will have knowledge of the principles and practices of VARVIMESR melting, the ability to prepare written reports and correspondence as well as presentations to senior leadership, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, as well as excellent written and verbalCompetencies· Technical competence· Ability to interact with internal and external customers· Strong understanding of products and processes· ability to troubleshoot and address customer concerns· strong communication skills.
