Role DescriptionAdept Materials seeks a highly qualified Coatings Chemist to develop coating formulations that incorporate the Adept's proprietary multifunctional material technology. The Coatings Chemist will play an essential role in the development of new products and will work closely with Adept Materials' R&D team to bring them to market. This is a full-time, on-site role.Responsibilities and Duties:Develop paired primer and topcoat formulationsMeasure the physical properties of filmsOptimize formulations for performance characteristics including building energy efficiency, moisture durability, occupant comfort, film adhesion, drying, and aestheticsSource raw materials for R&D and pilot manufacturingDocument test results and track the progress of projectsProduce technical reports for customers, partners, and public communicationsWork collaboratively with our R&D team and industry partners to create valuable product applications of Adept Materials' multifunctional material technologyDesired Qualifications and Skills:Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related fieldIndustry experience formulating paints andor coatingsAble to develop formulations from concept to productStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMotivated by entrepreneurship and able to work independently in a startupPassionate about sustainabilityAdditional Information:The job is based at Greentown Labs in Somerville, Massachusetts. Greentown Labs is the premier cleantech incubator in the United States. Some projects may require multi-day travel to other locations.
