Summary: The Boom Apprentice Truck Operator will be responsible for learning how to drive to and from job sites, primarily highways, and placing, moving or removing jersey walls along the perimeter of the highway to protect workers from moving traffic. Job Responsibilities: Will learn how to operate boom truck crane to lift, move, position or place primarily jersey walls at job sites, Learn and perform pre-operational inspection and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting, Learn and perform routine maintenance check on boom truck, Follow all company and OSHA safety regulations, Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, Must be willing to learn how to operates crane smoothly to prevent excessive grapple swings, eliminate cable jerking, and reduce wear on electrical and mechanical parts, Thoroughly mixes refuse before feeding boilers to ensure proper combustion and ensure that few arches occur, Closes bays in a timely manner and stacks refuse to properly control pit management, Maintains a trench along the tipping floor to facilitate the delivery of refuse from trucks, Operates, monitors and cleans refuse cranes and related areas, so that few arches from boiler feeder occur, Performs timely and complete crane inspections each shift, Maintain records and logs inspection data, such as cable cuts and service length of cables, to identify recurring problems, Completes required lubrication of all grease points on the cranes and grapples, Maintains the crane control room and the area on and around the crane deck in a clean, neat, and orderly condition at all times, Has depth perception and fine motor skills to operate cranes smoothly, Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action, troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas Must be able to access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12" by 16-man ways, Ensure accuracy of load, Deliver load/products properly and safely, ```{=html} ``` - You must wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image, ```{=html} ``` - May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends, - Additional duties as assigned. Working Conditions: This job may require you to work extended hour including evenings, nights, and weekends. This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas. This job requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts). This job requires the ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time. Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
