Summary This position is located in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals' Public Office Operations Division of the Clerk's Office. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Division's administrative procedures and daily functions, including oversight of daily docketing, transmission of records and transcript management; and monitoring of responses to the public in the e-File queue, efile Help, and Records email folders. Responsibilities BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Provides overall daily supervision of the Information Center, Files and Records Management Unit, the Courtroom support staff, Media Coordinator, and Mail Service and ensures all equipment and facilities are in good repair and operational for duty. Supervises and coordinates the organization and preparation of case files to ensure that the District of Columbia Court of Appeals adheres to the record-retention-storage-guidelines prior to release to the Federal Records Center and the D.C. Records Center. Instructs and plans work assignments and advises staff of any short-term priority changes (i.e., special details, meetings, etc.). Answers questions raised by division personnel and assists Public Office Director to resolve issues on work related problems presented by staff. Meets, discusses and makes plans for any special mission requirements with the Director for Public Office Operations and makes recommendations regarding policy, procedures, and work problems presented by staff personnel. Provides specific information to the Bar and the public relating to appellate files and general information on procedural matters relating to appellate case processing. Coordinates Courtroom Clerk assignments, and supervises and is responsible for the smooth, orderly and expeditious administration of all courtroom proceedings including In-Person oral argument Full-Remote or Hybrid oral argument through ZOOM and live streamed through YouTube. Makes suggestions and recommendations to improve the quality and reliability of information processed through the automated docketing system. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma plus eight (8) years of administrative or clerical experience in general office, public service setting, or court environment, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Graduation from the Courts' Management Training Program may substitute for one (1) year of supervisory experience (You must provide documentation of your management training (i.e. copy of certificate) with your application). A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social science field, public administration, or related field; and four (4) years demonstrated experience working in a public service, legal, or court environment, which will include at least one year of supervisory experience is preferred.
