Job Summary: As a key member of the finance team, the Accounting Clerk supports the Controller by completing general ledger activities, reconciling accounts, revenue recognition, and managing both accounts receivable and payable. This role performs accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and financial data, while also assisting in the preparation of monthly reports and the annual audit. The Accounting Clerk works closely with internal departments and external vendors to maintain smooth financial operations and deliver excellent customer service. Essential Job Functions: Accounts Receivable & Payable: Process customer invoices and vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution. Reconcile accounts receivable and payable monthly, ensuring alignment with the general ledger and bank transactions. Address inquiries from customers and vendors regarding payments, invoices, and statements. General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries for review by the Controller. Perform monthly reconciliation of cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, and deferred revenue. Maintain the fixed asset system, calculate depreciation, and assist with audit preparation. Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: Track and reconcile auxiliary revenue payments, rights revenue, and expenses. Assist in preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation for annual audit. Work with colleagues across departments to investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with tax forms, banking transfer instructions (ACH & Wire), and other related documentation (e.g., W-9s, 1099s) for vendors. Support the accurate recording and tracking of fixed assets and end-of-month close procedures. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of reports and schedules for the year-end audit. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support department needs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. 1-3 years of experience in accounting (experience in the media industry is a plus). Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics SL, Excel, and other financial software. Competencies: Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve independently. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
