Hybrid from our downtown Chicago office / your Chicagoland home office The Operational Risk Manager will play a crucial role in identifying and mitigating risks associated with James Hardie's operations. Responsibilities will involve assessing business processes, identifying potential issues, creating reports based on your findings, and collaborating with various departments to ensure controls are operating effectively to mitigate risks. At James Hardie, risk managers are responsible for compliance activities to ensure activities adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements. What You'll Do: Regulatory Management : Provide leadership in planning, developing, and implementing operational risk frameworks, measurement methodologies for Key Risk Indicators (KRI), update relevant policies, standards, and procedures. Conducting regulatory assessments and testing effectiveness of controls. Business Disruption Minimization : Continue to build on business continuity and disaster recovery for key business processes and locations through breach investigation and action. Manage and update plans to keep them current. Work with external consultants to ensure tabletop exercises are executed at plants globally. Committee Support : Partners with Shared Services Risk Committees and meetings. Contribute to quality assurance for the Shared Services Internal control framework and monitoring. Risk Training and Awareness : Provide training and awareness on key risks and management including testing of relevant controls to relevant stakeholders. Risk Assessment : Conduct thorough risk assessments by collecting and analyzing process flows, reports and working with Audit to ensure risks are mitigated. Conduct compliance assessments based on regional requirements. Risk Identification and Recommendations : Identify, review, and make recommendations on key risks and control issues. Risk Appetite and Control Inventory : Align with the organization's Operational Risk appetite and tolerances and manage and test controls within GRC tools. Third Party / Supplier Management : Manage 3rd party risk ensuring JH policies are adhered to. Ensure suppliers meet JH ESG and Safety policies. What You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Financial Services, IT or related discipline required. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience with risk management and compliance, including NIST-CSF, GDPR and CCPA. Experience in conducting risk management activities for a manufacturing company is a plus. Must have one or more certifications such as CRISC, ISACA, CISM, COBIT, CISA, ORM, or IRM. Required knowledge of Frameworks and Regulatory Requirements, familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements for NA. Audit Experience: Understanding of audit processes and practices is a plus. Strong analytical skills, proficient in assessing risks and identifying potential vulnerabilities. Ability to meticulously review operational procedures, policies, and compliance regulations. Strong data collection, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Strong cross-functional team skills with demonstrated ability to effectively utilize internal resources to meet project deadlines and objectives. Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen and assess internal customer risks in their processes, prioritize needs/requirements, and communicate them cross-functionally. Proficient in designing, producing, and delivering high quality reports and presentations through PowerPoint. Solid negotiation and influencing skills, effective in driving initiatives and participating as a member of cross functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills to constructively foster relationships internally and externally, including key stakeholders. Detail oriented, with solid organizational skills.
