Compensation is commensurate on experience. The Opportunity The Sous Chef oversees controlling food quality and guest satisfaction through supervision and support of the BOH team. This role is responsible for holding the BOH team accountable, preparing and serving quality food, controlling inventory, preventing waste and maintaining restaurant cleanliness. The Sous Chef supports the Chef to promote efficiencies and success of BOH operations. What You'll Be Doing •Direct daily BOH operations including opening and closing, as well as facilitating food preparation schedules •Leads effective shifts, expedites from either side of line, ability to work all stations •Ensures recipes are followed, an exceptional food quality is produced and a 100% guest satisfaction •Specializes in all kitchen prep, procedures, portioning and timing •Ensures accuracy of all recipes and kitchen training tools •Meets budgets and P&L goals •Develops and help recruit BOH team members •Maximizes profitability of culinary department by implementing effective food and labor cost controls, consistently monitoring budget to ensure efficient operations and reporting discrepancies •Follow Health & Safety and Food Safety standards •Be a team player - support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible •Assists Chef, General Manger and other supervisors with scheduling and coordination Requirements: •2+ years' experience in a sous chef or equivalent role •1+ years' experience in a kitchen supervisory role •NYC Food Handlers Certificate •Bachelor's Degree, Certification in Hospitality, or relevant experience gained from time on the job •Ability to stand for extended periods of time •Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds •Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule per the needs of the business Jane is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
