Job Description

The Civil Estimator is responsible for developing comprehensive and accurate estimates for civil engineering projects. This includes analyzing project plans and specifications, assessing material, labor, and equipment costs, and ensuring that all estimates are completed on time and within budget. The Civil Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver cost-effective and competitive bids. Client Details Our Client serves both private and public sector customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, and southern New York. We provide a wide spectrum of services including site work, utilities, concrete work, asphalt paving, and project budgeting. Description Cost Estimation: Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates. Calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost summaries for all aspects of the project. Bid Preparation: Develop and submit competitive and comprehensive bid proposals. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure coverage of all scope items. Review and incorporate all addendums and clarifications into the bid. Project Analysis: Conduct site visits to gather information on project conditions, constraints, and requirements. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Evaluate alternative construction methods and materials for cost-effectiveness. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives. Facilitate regular meetings to discuss project estimates, address concerns, and ensure alignment. Provide clear and detailed explanations of estimates to clients and project teams. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and other relevant documentation. Prepare detailed estimate reports and presentations for senior management and clients. Track and analyze historical cost data to improve accuracy of future estimates. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in construction methods, and changes in regulations. Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of estimates. Profile Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating for civil engineering projects. Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, PlanSwift). Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
