The position may consist of working in the capacity as a Lifeguard performing duties associated with the City's Recreation Program. Position protects the life and well being of each person using the aquatic facility and practices preventative life guarding, be familiar with areas of concern, and minimize dangers. Public Relations is a major part of this position's responsibilities. This is a part time position with no guaranteed number of work hours and consists of a 29-hour work week maximum. * Minimum age requirement is 15 years of age or older . EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/LICENSING & TRAINING EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or GED required unless currently enrolled in an accredited school with six months experience in a recreational program or any combination of education, training and experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Prefer experience associated with recreational activities, rules and regulations, and programs of the City's Recreation Program and dealing with all ages of the general public. LICENSING & TRAINING : Lifeguard positions are subject to additional specialized assessment skills testing. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain certification in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard Training. Inspect facility daily; sweep and hose decks as needed; maintain clean bathhouse as needed; clean guard room; and daily test water balance as directed. Makes announcements as needed over the P.A. System and contacts emergency personnel as necessary. Enforces safety rules and regulations in a fair and consistent manner. Accurately and promptly fill out accident/incident reports. Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Complies with and promotes safe practices in agreement with the safety rules and procedures set forth in the Loss Control Program. Performs related work as required.
