Job Type Full-time Description Position Overview Perform comprehensive Home Energy Audits, analyze data, create reports and work scopes with recommended improvements. Inspect existing homes for energy efficiency, air leakage, indoor air quality and HVAC combustion and safety testing using our diagnostic equipment. Create appropriate work scopes within program guidelines with recommendations for energy efficiency and comfort improvements. Effectively communicate building science applications to wide audience including homeowners, management, and install crews. Requirements Essential Job Objectives Identify any health or safety issues related to plan weatherization projects. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity. Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) enter data, or process information. Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. Identify and prioritize energy saving measures. Perform tests such as blower-door tests to locate air leaks. Inspect or evaluate building envelopes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system. Prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results or recommendations for energy cost savings. Analyze technical feasibility of energy saving measures using knowledge of engineering, energy production, energy use, construction, maintenance, system operation, or process systems. Educate customers on energy efficiency or answer questions on topics such as the costs of running household appliances or the selection of energy efficient appliances. Identify opportunities to improve the operation, maintenance, or energy efficiency of building or process systems. Prepare job specification sheets for home energy improvements, such as attic insulation, window retrofits, or heating system upgraders. Inspect newly installed energy-efficient equipment to ensure that it was installed properly and performing according to specifications. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience in a related field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Reading Comprehension Active Listening Speaking Critical Thinking Judgment and Decision Making Mathematics Complex Problem Solving Time Management Problem Sensitivity Flexibility of Closure Customer and Personal Service Computers and Electronics Devices Physical Demands & Requirements Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling and handling of materials. The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). The ability to lift/carry daily 35 pounds or more. License & Other Requirements Certified Energy Auditor under Ohio/Indiana WAP/DOE guidelines (training may or may not be provided by the agency). BPI QCI certified (additional to perform final inspections). Salary Description $22-$27 per hour
