Job Title:  Senior Electrical Control Engineer Location:  Onsite in Hammond, Indiana Duration:  Now - 11/15/2024 Rate:  $70 - $80 Employment Type:  W-2, Temporary Resource Responsibilities: The Senior Engineer provides technical expertise to solve complex problems, and leadership skills to provide project management or oversight of work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for unreviewed work. Incumbents are expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.   This position is responsible for the initial design, installation, testing and maintenance of the communication and SCADA control systems that monitor, control, and protect the capital investment that has been made in the Company gas and electric transmission, distribution, and hydroelectric generation and lake level control infrastructure. Performs communication and SCADA system troubleshooting and problem correction. Works with other Gas and Electric departments to coordinate outages, design, build and commissioning new substations, communications systems, and energy management control systems. Work Schedule can include extended hours or overnight stays out of the area. Personnel are subject to 24/7 emergency callout.   With Minimal Supervision and Increased Latitude for Unreviewed Work: Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise. Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities. Prepares thorough and accurate technical repoVistaNET, SGConfig, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches. Skilled in critical thinking and problem-solving skills Strives to continually improve job-related, engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance. Skilled in developing positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.SuppoVistaNET, SGConfig the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally. Skilled with company and industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Coaches and mentors other professionals. Additional Responsibilities: Travel to various electric substations in Company territory using own vehicles. Personnel will have the following Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) before entering electric substations Hard Hat Flame Resistant Clothing Safety Shoes - Leather shoes with a steel or reinforced toe Safety Glasses Personnel need to undergo Substation Entry Training prior to entering the substations. Company will supply this training. Personnel need to undergo Company CIP certification guidelines: Have a completed and clear Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) Complete the assigned Learning Management System (LMS) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) training modules. Company will assign these. Company Sponsor Approved Business Justification. Company will complete this for the contractors. Connect to RTUs using only Company supplied Transient Cyber Assets (TCAs aka laptops). Connect to RTU and perform database point checks for analog inputs (AI), digital inputs (DI), and controls as digital outputs (DO). RTUs consists of GE D20/D200/MX & SEL RTAC 3530. Minor RTU configuration changes as needed. Under the direction of Company personnel. Contractor will have basic hand tools (Screw Drivers, Pliers, Allen Keys, and flash lights). Ability to write an RTAC and GE D20 Config Ability to force RTAC and D20 point states This testing will be on in production live substations, so we need people familiar with RTU's and relays, so that trips and closes can be sent to these RTU's without actually tripping or closing the production breakers.   Qualifications: 7 to 12 years of electric utility experience and a graduate from a four year ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Skilled in engineering/technical theories and principles. Skilled in basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations Skilled in dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Skilled in written and oral communication skills. Skilled in principles of project management. PMP Certification. Experience in the electric utility industry.   All of the qualifications of an Engineer III plus the following: Skilled understanding of Communication & Control principles. Able to provide C&C training across the organization for PRC/CIP compliance. Able to design complex Communication & Control schemes for new substations or renovation projects. Performs detailed drawing reviews to ensure strict adherence to C&C standards. Provides guidance and support to external design firms. Skilled ability to work with customers, contractors, and internal teams on complex C&C designs. Comprehensive knowledge of T&D, communication configurations and substation operations. Skilled ability to complete complex C&C system modernizations & capital projects independently. Skilled ability to analyze and troubleshoot Communication & Control schemes across a broad spectrum. Skilled ability to operate and train others on complex electrical test equipment. Skilled in the ability to analyze system events and provide detailed summary reports to operational teams. Comprehensive mastery of engineering PC applications (AutoCAD, Meridian, AcSELerator RTAC, VistaNET, SGConfig, WebFG). Skilled with Communication Management Systems (Cascade, FootPrints, and Confluence). Ability to perform C&C scoping for complex capital improvement projects
