Posting Identification Number 40222 Position Overview We are looking for a motivated individual to serves as electrician at Dixon Correctional Center. This position performs journeyman electrical work: constructs, installs, alters, maintains and repairs electrical systems, equipment and fixtures at the facility. This position will also provide guidance, direction and instructions to individuals in custody in routine maintenance, prepare reports, and keep records of material and supplies used. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply. Job Responsibilities Installs and maintains all electrical systems within the facility. Maintains electrically driven mechanical equipment and associated equipment. Provides guidance, direction and instructions to individuals in custody in routine maintenance. Prepares reports and keeps records of material and supplies used. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school. Requires successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program AND four (4) years full-time journey level electrician experience, OR eight (8) years of full-time journey level electrician experience. Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least five (5) years of experience using the tools, methods, and standard practices of the trade. Prefers at least five (5) years of experience applying established national, state, and local electrical codes. Prefers at least five (5) years of experience inspecting unsafe or faulty conditions in production, transmission, and utilization of electricity. Prefers at least five (5) years of experience using tools of the trade such as voltmeters, amp meters, ohmmeters, and other calibration and testing equipment apparatus. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience instructing and/or directing trade helpers, individuals in custody, and/or unskilled workers or semi-skilled workers. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
