For over 20 years LER has been working with customers across North America to meet their engineering resource challenges.We have a position for an experienced calibration engineer to assist with diagnostic calibration. In this role, the engineer will interact with engine test cells, prototype vehicles and test benches to troubleshoot issues and calibrate features. This role collaborates with other teams.What you will be doing:Diagnostic related troubleshooting to support OBD. Responsible for designing diagnostics, implementing, and executing diagnostic tuning, verification and validation tests, and documenting and analyzing the results on embedded software controls. Develop a detailed understanding of how fuel systems embedded software controls a high-pressure common rail fuel system. Responsible for troubleshooting issues and tuning of a high-pressure common rail fuel system on various Cummins engines. Responsible for developing and tuning fuel system diagnostics. Submit DCR's to document software issues. Create and maintain tuning procedures for the group's components. Run FMET(s) (Failure Modes Effects Tests) on bench and vehicles. Perform testing on benches, fuel system rigs, test cells, and vehicles to assure the fuel systems software is functioning properly andor to duplicate problems found by customers.The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the following areas:Electronics OR controls backgroundKnowledge of statistics and statistical concepts of mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, etc... Experience with Matlab and Simulink. Experience with programming in C or other imperative and procedural languages. Fundamental understanding of the internal combustion engines. On the job engine testing, vehicle, or test cell experience with familiarity of data acquisition and instrumentation. Experience in communicating and presenting technical content with external customers preferred. Experience with different data processing tools for complex or large data sets (Matlab, concerto, excel, or similar). Good understanding & experience with Datalink protocols such as J1939 and CANC communication networksAbility to collect and analyze CAN Trace filesWorking knowledge of CANalyzer or any similar data acquisition tools (Calterm, etc,.)Experience with MATLAB Simulink, MS-Office is preferredAwareness and knowledge Vector tools, Windchill RV&S will be a plus for this roleWorks well with customers and coordinates with internal teamsKnowledge of Practical Problem Solving (7 step problem solving)Experience with troubleshooting issues is highly desired.
