Position: Scientist, T cell engineeringLocation: 430 E 29th St, New York, NY 10016Employment: Full-timeReports to: Head of Preclinical R&DBackgroundWith a rapidly growing team of immunologists and genome engineers and backed by top-tier TechBio investors, OverT Bio is developing effective and safe cellular therapies for solid tumors. Founded in 2022 by Drs. Mat Legut and Neville Sanjana, OverT Bio has pioneered new pooled functional screening and synthetic genomics platforms (OverTargetâ„¢ and OverTuneâ„¢) to develop next-generation engineered immune cells. The science behind these platforms has been published in leading journals including Nature, The New England Journal of Medicine, and Nature Reviews Cancer.Position SummaryThis position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team on cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of genome engineering, immuno-oncology and single-cell multiomics. In particular, you will focus on research areas such as T cell engineering, in vitro and in vivo characterization, and development of a research-scale manufacturing process. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player and a diligent experimental biologist who can thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.Key Responsibilitieso  Develop, design and refine viral and non-viral engineering strategies for modification of primary human T cells, including specific subsets,o Design, execute and analyze complex experiments across both in vitro and in vivo systems for characterization of engineered T cells in the context of solid tumor cancers,o Utilize cutting-edge high throughput and multi-omic technologies to discover biomarkers of optimal human donors for an effective engineered T cell product,o Become a subject matter expert able to find creative solutions to unexpected problems.Requirementso  PhD in Immunology or equivalent,o  Minimum of 2 years of cell therapy experience in industry,o  Experience with primary human T cell engineering is essential,o  Experience with gamma delta T cells or TCR-transduced T cells is preferred,o  Demonstrated proficiency with viral vector design and generation,o Demonstrated proficiency with flow cytometry, co-culture assays, cytotoxicity and other immune related assays,o  Willingness to quickly discover and learn new methods and approaches,o  Ability to adjust rapidly to shifting priorities and deliver high-quality, detail-oriented results in a timely manner,o  Teamwork and collaborative attitude are essential,o  Strong organizational and record-keeping skills,o  Authorized to work in the pensation and BenefitsAs one of the initial employees of an early-stage, high-growth biotech startup, you will have an excellent opportunity for personal growth at the company expands and your ideas will be critical for developing the company culture and policies.
