Job Summary: The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide overall support to the Columbia College athletic programs. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide assistance and support to the Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Head Athletic Trainer. Assist Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Head Athletic Trainer with appropriate medical coverage of the varsity sports at Columbia College. Provide injury recognition, prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athletes at Columbia College. Provide medical coverage at varsity home and away contests and tournaments. Arrange and attend appointments with team Doctors. Assist in collection and retention of medical records such as injury evaluations, treatment records, equipment check-out, and personal insurance information. Assist in providing supervision, organization, scheduling and recruitment of student workers and graduate assistants for the athletic training room. Hold appropriate memberships in state, regional and national associations. Communicate with local and national athletic departments on an as-needed basis. Work effectively with students, student-athletes, administrators, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, officials, and coaches. Demonstrate a working knowledge of NAIA rules and maintain the integrity of the athletic program through the appropriate application of these rules. Other athletic department summer projects as needed. Columbia College is a member of the NAIA and the American Midwest Conference and has a staff that consists of 3 full time certified athletic trainers and 3 graduate assistant certified athletic trainers. This position involves assisting athletic training staff members with daily care of 350 student-athletes, practice and competition coverage the 20 NAIA sports (including travel), and other duties as assigned by the athletic training staff. Individuals in this position will gain valuable work experiences in athletic training and sports medicine as well as improving their skills in documentation, communication, supervision, management of a health care facilities, and human relations. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree preferred NATABOC certification MO license eligible Preferred Qualifications: One to three years of experience working in an athletic department as an employee, graduate assistant, or student intern.
