Job Description

The Human Resource Employee Relations Specialist is directly responsible for supporting the Employee Relations and FSSC training processes.Position FunctionsResponsible for overseeing the entire Employee Relations process which includes investigations, employee complaints, helpline calls, grievances, maintaining the employee relations log and uploading corrective actions into WorkdaySubmit weekly ER log update to HR Business PartnersEnsure compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, including Company policies, and Collective Bargaining AgreementsRespond to Illinois Dept. of Employment Security unemployment claims; represent company during hearings, etc.Maintains a log of Illinois Dept. of Employment Security unemployment claims and provides monthly updates to HR ManagerConduct 30-day New Hire review for non-graded associates, reports findings to applicable department managers, follows-up to ensure corrective actions are taken as necessaryResponsible for conducting annual trainings for existing employees on Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, Harassment etc. Ensures 100% of completion through signed acknowledgementsMaintains training binders and ensures an audit ready status on the annual required trainingsConducts monthly analysis of ER trends discusses findings with leadership team and implements recommendations to address identified areas of opportunitySupports employee relations activities (events and communications) based on annual calendar of eventsMaintains strong communication with all levels of the organizationMaintains employee relations filing system, log ER issues, and upload Corrective Action Forms in WorkdayAudit training programs to ensure compliance and monitor the re-training process as neededMaintain all documentation related to training to ensure it meets FSSC 22000 requirementsEnsure training is completed on an annual basis and that Departmental SOP training, as required by the department matrix, occurs annuallyInternal FSSC 22000 "document control representative" for HR and SafetyPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsComputer literate (MS Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint)Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)Must possess a high degree of cultural awareness and sensitivityDetail-oriented skills are a mustOrganization and multi-tasking skills - must know how to prioritize and meet deadlinesMust display a high level of initiativeBilingual SpanishPrevious experience working in a Manufacturing andor Union environmentAS400, Kronos, Ceridian, HRIS or Workday experienceMinimum 2-3 years of progressive Human Resources experience [specifically employee relations and labor relations] in a manufacturing environmentPosition Education & Training PreferredBABS degree in related field or equivalent experiencePHR Certification preferredOther InformationThe statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed, as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
