Vice President of Tennis Pathways About New York Junior Tennis & LearningFor over fifty years, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) has honored its founder Arthur Ashe's legacy by celebrating the diversity of children, encouraging them to reach their highest potential through free tennis and academic programs. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants.The mission of NYJTL is to develop the character of young people through tennis and education for a lifetime of success on and off the court. It believes life skills gained through tennis, academics, healthy living, and character development are a catalyst for long-term achievement.Position Summary The Vice President of Tennis Pathways will oversee the design and execution of connected tennis pathways for youth instructional programs and competitions for community focused initiatives. They will work closely with the senior leadership team to define and create curriculums and models to strategically grow youth participation, secure resources and expand the organization's footprint throughout New York City. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP will ensure programmatic quality, operational completion, and measurement of targeted outcomes. This is an ideal opportunity for a proven nonprofit professional with tennis coaching experience who feels passionate about tennis' role in building social and emotional skills in youth.Core Responsibilities Design, implement and oversee tennis pathway programs that integrate tennis with educational and mentorship programs for youth in line with NYJTL's goals and visionConstruct and oversee curriculum development for community tennis participants, from grassroots to advanced, focusing on technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of the gameOversee the inception of a coaching institute to forward best practices and foster coach growthLead the recruitment, training, and evaluation of coaching staff and program instructors to ensure consistency and quality across all programsEstablish performance metrics and evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness and impact of the programs, making data-driven decisions for program improvementSupervise and oversee the work product of the pathways team, consisting of school- and community-based staff and coachesCollaborate with the pathways team on community engagement, participant recruitment plans, and identification of new sitesOversee relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, elected officials and familiesMaintain existing program revenue and partner with the development team to explore and secure funding for programsAssist the CFO with developing and managing the budget, ensuring efficient utilization of resources while achieving program objectivesServe as a visionary and thought partner to the CEO on major needs, decisions, and strategiesUndertake any other duties and responsibilities as assignedQualifications Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred15+ years' progressive experience in tennis program management; background in education, college readiness, school environments, physical trainingguidance, or similar extensive experience with tennis coaching principles, player development pathways, and competition structures at the local, and national levelsComfortable recruiting, training, and engaging youth in tennis in a community setting (e.g., parks, schoolyards)Experience with data analysis tools, measuring outcomes, and reportingStrong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing staff, budgets, and operationsTechnologically savvy and comfortable using social media and other online platformsExcellent interpersonal and writtenspoken communication skillsCommitment to community programs, youth development, and educationCultural competency, appreciation and sensitivity toward diverse students and familiesHands-on approach to work executionNonprofit industry experience preferredBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionLife InsuranceLong-Term DisabilityFlexible Spending Accounts403(b) Retirement Plan This is a dynamic role with evolving responsibilities tailored to meet organizational needs.Job TypeFull-Time, Exempt Salary Range$140,000k - $150,000kNYJTL values the diversity of the people we hire and inspire.
