About the Facility - Elmendorf-Richardson AFB Formerly known as Elmendorf Field, in 2010 it merged with nearby Fort Richardson to form Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The 673 rd Wing is JBER's host unit. As the largest and principal unit within the 11 th AF, the 3 rd Wing is tasked with providing air defense and air superiority in Alaska, as well as supporting Pacific Air Forces during contingencies in the Pacific Command area of responsibility. Facility Address: 600 Richardson Dr, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK 99505 Job Type - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) Perform a full range of pharmacist procedures. The Pharmacist will be required to rotate calls with other pharmacists with the infrequent possibility of needing to return to the pharmacy nights, weekends, and holidays for limited services to include, but not limited to, drug information, review and processing of inpatient orders, preparation of IV admixtures, and Pyxis replenishment. Shall provide outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services to patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Will perform work in the following work areas as directed, screening patient electronic health records for appropriateness of the medication order or refill, verifying that patient prescriptions are accurately filled and the directions for use are clear, counseling patients to ensure proper use of the medication. Order screening duties will include a thorough review of the patient's electronic health record to verify the appropriateness of therapy. The following screening duties list is not exhaustive, but rather constitutes the minimum expectation: appropriate dose for the condition, weight, age, and renal/hepatic function of the individual patient, appropriate medication for condition, monitoring for drug-drug, or drug-disease interactions, and verification that day supply matches what is ordered. Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services within the personnel, supply, and equipment capabilities of the facility. Counsel patients regarding the appropriate use of medications. Review patient profiles at the time of dispensing in order to closely monitor medication therapy. Ensure prescription directions for use, dose, medication interactions, therapeutic duplications or overlaps, allergy information, age-specific dosage, and other pertinent data are appropriate for individual patients. Intervention with providers shall be made for noted discrepancies of the above-listed items. Compound medications are required. Ensure accuracy of all pharmaceutical products prepared or processed by technical staff. Supervise inventory control of all pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy, especially scheduled pharmaceuticals, and ensure pharmacy security. Maintain records and security of all scheduled controlled substances according to applicable regulations. Job Type - REQUIREMENTS Degree: Must have at minimum a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy. Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience after graduation. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a pharmacist. Security: Must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance. Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
