McKinley and Co is currently hiring qualified Registered Nurses (Rn's) and Licensed Practitioners Nurses (LPN's) to work in public schools across the Chicagoland area with students! Paid training. IMMEDIATE HIRING! Position Summary Your primary responsibility will be to provide health services to students when they are at school. For example, you'll treat injuries and mild to acute sicknesses, or support students with chronic illnesses. You'll also help with preventive care by educating students on how to avoid communicable diseases and having proper hygiene. Responsibilities Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene Detect health problems in early stages through regular screenings Keep track of students' vaccination records Update students' medical history Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases) Write referrals for pediatricians and other health specialists Ensure compliance with national and local health laws Required Qualifications: IL Nursing License CPR/BLS Certification Current TB test (skin, blood, chest x-ray) Full COVID Vaccination record The desire to work with children in a school setting Experience required: Must have 6 months or more of *direct patient care experience* within the last (3) years or in one or more of the following areas. Care: Note: Must be comfortable with Carb Counting/ Insulin Administration using insulin pens or syringes School age children are recently diagnosed so they need guidance, supervision, and teaching while servicing and will have different levels of diabetes education and may be recently diagnosed. Diabetic Pumps: Note: Must be comfortable with servicing diabetics with Pumps & or CGMs. Gtube Services Catheterization Services Seizure Precaution Tracheostomy (Trach) Services Diastat Administration Medication Administration First Aid Children on ventilators Required to wear FITTED MASK in school while servicing students. VACCINATION EXCEPTIONS: Medical Exemption is approved per School if a Physician letter is submitted or Religious Letter is also accepted and must be written out stating their request is based on their sincere beliefs and are agreeing to test weekly on your own and submit results weekly. Failure to submit negative weekly test results will result in termination per School mandate dditional Information 6 in a half hour shifts, approximate school hours ~8:00am-3:00pm Days: Monday through Friday, no holidays or weekends Target Start Date: ASAP Temporary full School Year Opportunity 6 months to 1 year RN/LPN experience (clinicals do not count towards experience)
