Job Summary: The Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner will support our mission to ensure access to high-quality, patient-centered, equitable health care to Los Angeles County residents. This position would support the Charles R. Drew University Family Medicine Residency through direct services at DHS facilities and through collaboration with community and university partners. On-site position based at CDU partner site: Martin Luther King jr. Outpatient Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assumes ongoing responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery. Performs complete physical examinations, including interviewing patients to obtain complete medical histories as well as ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and examinations. Diagnoses and treats both chronic and episodic disorders including complications of otherwise routine processes such as pregnancy or childhood development. Establishes and documents the health care plan and prognosis, maintaining records of each case that are detailed and complete for any physician reviewing them to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. Initiates drug therapy, taking responsibility for other reactions as well as therapy when performed prior to consultation with a physician. Determines when the patient has recovered from the disorder and releases the patient. Participates in the Quality Improvement and Assurance activities of Family Medicine Patient Center Medical Home Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: EDUCATION/LICENSURES: A license to practice as a Registered Nurse and a certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Applicant's must ensure the License and Certification Section of the application is completed. Provide the title(s) of your required license(s), the number(s), date(s) of issue, date(s) of expiration and the name(s) of the issuing agency for the required license as specified in the Selection Requirements. A current, active certification in accordance with the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program. A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Required license(s) and/or certification(s) must be active and unrestricted, or your application will not be accepted. EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years of experience. KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS : Must relate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community. Ability to work and communicate well with others, particularly in a clinical setting. Demonstrate sensitivity towards marginalized individuals. Skills and ability developing individual service plans, prioritizing workflow and resolve problems. COMPLEXITY: The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position. Compensation: $97,760 - $135,200 Position Status: Full Time Conditional Statement: The employment status of this position is classified as "Conditional".
